Rita Marie Johnson was drawn to Costa Rica after learning it is the only country in the world with no army and no defense arrangement. To strengthen the national model of peace, Rita developed the BePeace program and established the Rasur Foundation and the Academy for Peace to empower Costa Rican citizens to model nonviolence at every level of society. As an international peacemaker, Johnson has presented BePeace workshops in eight states in the USA as well as Canada, Europe and Central America and for the U.N. University for Peace.
