Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM) supports Unity ministers, leaders, and Unity spiritual communities with leading-edge education, consultation, and resources.
Chief Executive Officer
Jim Blake rejoined Unity World Headquarters as CEO in 2016, having previously served as chief information officer and vice president of Operations from 2006 to 2011. Prior to being named CEO, he was vice president of product development at Rhythm Engineering in Lenexa, Kansas. Jim has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience with some of the fastest growing and most innovative companies in North America, including information technology, operations, and product development in the legal, financial, nonprofit, utility, and manufacturing industries.
Jim has a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science from Central Methodist University and intends to finish his Master of Divinity from Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute.
Chief Financial Officer
David Vest joined Unity World Headquarters in October 2001 as controller. Vest is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining Unity, Vest was vice president of finance at BeyondNow Technologies in Overland Park, Kansas. Vest lives in Unity Village, Missouri, where he has served as mayor since 2014, with his wife Julie, and their two children.
Rev. Ellen Debenport
Vice President of Content and Media Strategy
Rev. Ellen Debenport is a journalist turned Unity minister, who is now combining both areas of expertise as vice president of Content and Media Strategy. She is the author of two books: The Five Principles: A Guide to Practical Spirituality and Hell in the Hallway, Light at the Door about the spiritual path through change and transition. She served as senior minister at Unity churches in Dallas and Wimberley, Texas. In her previous career, she reported for United Press International, became political editor for the Tampa Bay Times in Florida, then was assigned to the Times’ bureau in Washington, D.C. Her bachelor’s degree in journalism is from Baylor University.
Vice President of Technology and Innovation
Michael Kincaid recently joined UWH as vice president of Digital Strategy in 2017. He brings almost 20 years of professional leadership, management, and product development experience, with a focus on web development and social media strategy. He has run his own business, managed product development for successful engineering and web marketing firms, directed application development teams, and consulted one-on-one with nonprofits to maximize their digital advertising and fund-raising efforts.
Director of Development
Terrill joined the Development staff at Unity in 2006. She has worked as a consultant and managed more than 20 capital campaigns, many with Unity churches in the U.S. and Canada. In 1993 Terrill cofounded Women Vision International (WVI), an organization dedicated to helping women in developing countries be economically self-sufficient. She served as CEO for the nonprofit for a decade before joining Unity World Headquarters. Terrill graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies.
President/Chief Operating Officer
Guy joined Unity World Headquarters in 2014 as CFO/COO, having previously served as vice president of Finance and Administration at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. He has also held various audit roles at Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and The Kansas City Board of Trade. Guy is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Kansas State University and an Executive Fellows MBA from Rockhurst University.
Director of Human Resources
Kim joined Unity in 1987 serving in various roles in the Human Resources Department including recruiting, compensation, HRIS, and employee relations. Kim is responsible for employee relations, training and development, policy administration, compensation, retention, talent acquisition, benefits, workers' compensation, and HRIS administration. Kim received her bachelor's degree in management human resources from Park University. She also earned her M.B.A. from the University of Central Missouri.
Rev. Mark Fuss
Director of Outreach and Engagement
Ordained a Unity minister in 2009, Rev. Mark Fuss has served Unity for more than a decade in several different roles. Mark started his Unity career at the Unity Village Bookstore and Coffee Shop while also being enrolled in school at Unity Institute® and Seminary. After his graduation he became Director of Admissions and Continuing Education for Unity Institute, and then moved into the Development Department in 2016. He also served as senior minister of Unity Spiritual Center in Springfield, Missouri, from 2010–2011. Before coming to Unity, Mark spent more than 20 years in retail management at the district and regional level.
Mark has a Diploma in Unity Ministry from Unity Institute and Seminary and is completing an Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising through the Lake Institute for Philanthropy and Duke Divinity School.
Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett
Vice President of Silent Unity
Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett joined Unity World Headquarters in 2017 as vice president of Silent Unity®. An author (How to Pray Without Talking to God and Divine Audacity) and ordained Unity minister, she also served on the Unity Board of Directors and is a licensed Unity teacher. She was senior minister at Unity Church of San Antonio, Texas, for 13 years and served in various roles at the Unity Church of Omaha for more than 17 years. Linda has a Bachelor of Arts in leadership from Bellevue University.
Director of Marketing
Julie Stofer joined Unity World Headquarters as the director of Marketing in 2017. She has spent more than 15 years working in marketing, development, and operations for fast-paced, mission-driven, entrepreneurial nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. Prior to joining the Unity team, Julie managed communications teams at an association of small foundations and a philanthropy consulting firm, trained nonprofit professionals to engage with supporters using digital media, facilitated the exchange of information to accelerate environmental innovation among businesses, and raised money and awareness to fight the illegal wildlife trade. Julie has a BBA in marketing from the University of Oklahoma and an MPA in nonprofit management from The George Washington University.
