A good place to start is reading The Uniteen Program Guide Part 1 and 2 and the Youth of Unity Handbook.
The Uniteen Program Guide Part 1 provides ideas in assessing your group, explains what the total program is about, and how your group may improve. Reproducible pages for organizing and conducting programs are included. Part 2 includes sections on spiritual and educational philosophy and tools, how to prepare lessons, facilitating prayer/meditation from a Unity perspective (including affirmations and denials), ceremonies and celebrations, and considerations when planning a lock-in. Also included is a Q&A section covering topics not discussed elsewhere and an index that covers both parts 1 and 2. The miscellaneous tab is for your own region's handouts.
The Youth of Unity Handbook provides important information relating to: the sponsor's responsibilities, forming and conducting YOU chapters, developing leaders and electing officers, social events, rallies, subregional events, and International YOU Conference; lesson preparation, classroom management and resources for YOU.
The Association of Unity Churches International has curriculum just for Uniteens. The titles include Relationships, Self-Image, Choices and Consequences, Fair Play, Bring On the Basics!, Navigating Thru Change, and Make a Difference.
For the Youth of Unity, we have several new curricula. Unity Basics for Life Book 1. This book includes ten lessons covering questions about God, Jesus, and the law of mind action. (Basic principles 1-3). Unity Basics for Life Book 2. This book covers (basic Unity principles 4 and 5) prayer, meditation and practice. Authentic Relationships is eight interactive lessons that focus on relationships between God and self, and self and others.
We would also suggest trying the small group study books published by the Association. Each book contains seven lessons. The titles include: Creating a Life of Prayer, Trusting the Process of Change, Knowing the Truth About Healing, Meeting Myself in the Bible, Proving the Power of Principle, Living an Abundant Life, Creative Living, and Cultivating God Mind Through Parables.
If you decide to prepare your own lesson using a book that has been approved by your ministry, we suggest that you refer to the lesson format in the Youth of Unity Handbook, Chapter 15, or in the Uniteen Program Guide Part 2. A lesson format guide is also included in the back of each of the Uniteen and YOU curricula listed here.
