"You are the author of your life!" On stage was a well-known motivational speaker, and his message was, "Take charge of your life, and become a creator, rather than a victim." I was inspired by his words and have successfully applied many of his ideas in my life. I created the life I wanted...or at least, thought I wanted.
For thousands of years, humanity has believed prayer is something we do, but this is not true. If prayer is an experience of God's presence and it comes through grace, prayer is what God does. We practice; God perfects. We wait, God lifts.
While we wait, we learn humility, compassion, nonresistance, patience, acceptance, and self-love. These are the qualities we value most in other people and in the world. We may strive to live this way and express these qualities, but we fail. We fail because these qualities cannot live in the world until they live in us.
If you are reading this article and are a conscious being, then undoubtedly you’ve experienced pain. For physical ailments, some treatments provide instantaneous cures to whatever dis-ease we may be experiencing. And there are just as many instant cures for various emotional and mental ailments as well. But what about the hurts that just won’t go away? Why are they there? And if we, being Truth students, do affirmative work and mind treatments and positive thinking, can’t we be exempt from hurting at all?

Create a Meaningful Life
One of the questions Charlotte and I always ask our radio guests is “What is your best advice for how each of our listeners can create a more meaningful life?”
