God

The Answer Will Come

The deep desire within your heart, dear friend, is now in the process of coming into expression. Although it is not yet visible or tangible in your life, you can help yourself find peace about it by saying quietly and with conviction: “It will come. It will come.”

Instead of dwelling on the appearances that seem to hinder and obstruct the fulfillment you desire, give your complete attention to the simple conviction, “It will come.” Turn your thoughts to these three little words each time any negative or limited feeling arises.

Perfection

In this broad earth of ours
Amid the measureless grossness and the slag,
Enclosed and safe within its central heart,
Nestles the seed of Perfection.

The great mystic-poet Walt Whitman, in his “Song of the Universal,” expressed a truth that most of us recognize as an ideal but not as reality. We perceive that somewhere within us exists that spark of divinity, the “seed of Perfection.” Jesus, however, said, “You, therefore, must be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

The Simple Life, Part II

The simple life is a life of love. This life of love is complicated when we believe that we do not possess love and must receive it from another person. We ignore the truth that God is love and that we are made in God's image and after God's likeness. Love is our nature, and if we are to experience it, we must allow its imprisoned splendor to escape from within us. This is why Jesus commanded us to love one another. No one discovers love by see king it from others. This only complicates life. Life is simplified when we are more willing to express love than to get love.

More Than We Settle For

Life is more than we settle for. There is a higher reality. There is a power beyond what we ordinarily believe to be our own, beyond what we ordinarily believe to be operating.

This power is accessible. At times we all touch it—or let it touch us.

Make a Joyful Noise

Make a Joyful Noise

“When you feel good you sing, either audibly or silently. … Nearly anyone can sing a little song. It is a marvelous health restorer. Singing restores harmony to tense nerves. Its vibrations stir them into action, thus making it possible for the ever-waiting healing Spirit to get in.”

—Charles Fillmore

The old adage “music soothes the savage breast” is a testament to the notes, lyrics, melodies, and rhythms that can transform lives. Music promotes healing. It lifts moods. It comforts. It is spirit in song. It moves.

Keeping in Tune

Keeping in Tune

A spirit of harmony pervades the universe. In an address entitled "New Science and New Faith," Donald Hatch Andrews, professor of chemistry at Johns Hopkins University, says, "We are making the startling discovery that, in a word, the basic reality of our universe is not matter but music."

He tells us further that if we could attune our ears to listen to what goes on inside the atom we would "become aware of music like great rolling organ music all about us, intermingling melody and harmony. One atom sings and it is answered by music in all the neighboring atoms. It is in this music that we find the real significance of life and the significance of the universe."

Sing a New Song

Sing a New Song

No matter what has occurred before, this is a new day, a new hour, and a new moment. You can take hold of joy on the wings of prayer and find yourself lifted into lightness, peace, and courage.

You are a child of the living God, meant to express happiness, meant to radiate beauty and serenity as bright and lovely as the rays of the morning sun, meant to embody the music and harmony of the universe. Joy is your gift from God, and it is not dependent on what occurred 10 years ago, a month ago, yesterday, or last night.

Joy belongs to you, whether you know it or not. It is yours now, to discover, to use, to exercise, and to bring into expression.

The Nature of God

The Nature of God

I stood looking at the vast expanse of mountains, the cool breeze against my skin. This moment was another experience with nature as the essence of God. In my mind once again I am reminded of the awe and wonder of this magnificent creation of God, Alaska. As I walked through a beautiful field of Alpine and other wild flowers, the words from the song written by Marie Drake are on my lips, "May it mean to you, the blue of the sea, the evening sky, the mountain lakes, and the flowers near by." While the writer was referring to Alaska's flag, for me it was much more. It was a continuation of truth unfolding in my life.

Let the Greatness of God Take Over

Let the Greatness of God Take Over

Is there something—anything—facing you in life that you feel you cannot handle? Let the greatness of God take over! Let the greatness of God's healing power, guiding light, soothing peace, comforting love, and abiding goodness take over now.

Turn away from every negative appearance of lack or limitation and focus all attention upon the reality of the presence and power of God. ... Turn every thought of fear or doubt over to God.

The Power of a Minute

The Power of a Minute

Minute prayers are possible for anyone to practice. No matter where you are, you can call upon the presence of God. Take that minute, in spite of anything, in the midst of anything, regardless of the place or circumstance.

Take a minute before getting out of bed in the morning. During morning activities, every so often stop for another minute. Quiet your thoughts, anxieties, rushed feelings, and again feel yourself enfolded in the presence of God. Everything that seemed so pressing will become secondary. An awareness of being in control will fill you and you will go forward with order and confidence.
