Liberation and a Life Without Limits

NBA center Jason Collins epitomized this Daily Word® message (below) when he sat down on May 5, 2013 with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter and spoke on coming out as the first gay male athlete in a major U.S. professional sport.

Oprah recited from Daily Word during the interview with Collins.

Collins, who received Daily Word from his grandmother, read this April 24, 2013, affirmation on the day he came out publicly. The mention of Daily Word during the interview is perhaps a testament to the inclusivity of our message and Unity’s long-standing commitment to the LGBT community.

Freedom

In Spirit, I am limitless and free.

The clarion call of freedom sounds within my soul, trumpeting the truth that the love of God liberates me from unhappiness, hurt, or fear. I bid farewell to any emptiness from the past and open myself to realizing my heart’s deepest longing and aspiration.

Turning within in prayer, I feel the reassurance of God’s love. The love of God moves in and through me as the power that sets me free. The love of God strengthens my resolve, bolsters my courage, and guides my steps. I walk the open road of freedom and release.

I rise up strong and unafraid, ready to claim my freedom and fulfill my destiny as a child of God. The love of God is always with me, urging me onward and upward.
