A Prayer for Children: Strength and Perseverance
Helping children learn to navigate difficult times with spiritual strength
Have you ever had to do something that felt extremely difficult? Or maybe you encountered a problem that seemed impossible to solve?
Imagine how overwhelming experiences like those feel to children. It’s important for them to learn how to navigate troubled waters.

Strength and faith are interconnected faculties because the greater our belief system, the easier it is to persevere through challenges. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).
We can support our children by reminding them they are never alone when facing difficulties. As children of God, we inherit unlimited divine potential to persevere and succeed through any seeming challenge.
We have all been given supernatural strength. To acknowledge this, all we need to do is build our spiritual muscles. Here are some possible tools we can utilize:
- Think positively about the situation instead of running scared. Remember that difficult moments create an opportunity for us to tune in to the divine rhythm, energy, and harmony of the Universe.
- Breathe deeply and meditate to abate anxiety when it pops up.
- Use the inner power of imagination to visualize overcoming and succeeding when we follow divine guidance.
- Set a goal or intention and keep working toward it, even if there is a delay in reaching it or difficulty in achieving it.
- Pray together as a family whenever possible.
- Be our kids’ cheerleader!
Spiritual strength shows up as the three P’s: patience, persistence, and perseverance.
We can support our children during challenging times by using affirmations to help them claim their inner strength as they patiently work through the hard stuff. They possess everything within themselves that’s needed to grow through difficult experiences. As they discover their divinity, they discover they can accomplish anything. And they do!

A Prayer for Strength and Perseverance
As I breathe deeply into the rhythm of the Universe, I envision all children aligned with Spirit as they consciously realize their divine nature and their spiritual power of strength. I see them victorious over negation in all forms. Through divine understanding, they now view all situations that seem overwhelming as opportunities to call forth their divine faculty of strength. They grow deeper into the awareness of the one true presence within.
A Shared Family Prayer for Strength and Perseverance
As we turn within together, we give thanks in this moment for our strength. Strength is an inner, spiritual power in each one of us. We release all feelings of fear or dread and replace them with patience, strength, and confidence.
We now let go of any ideas about how things must work out, and we allow the Universe to show us our paths. As we speak and act in faith, we tap into our strength and boldness that help us overcome challenges. We move forward confidently, knowing all things are possible with God.
