"But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded" (2 Chronicles 15:7).

 

Comment:

This is from the prophecy of Azariah (whose fame was fleeting, since he's not mentioned anywhere else in the Bible). He is speaking directly to King Asa on behalf of the Lord; the general theme of the prophecy is in verse 2: "The Lord is with you, if you are with him." Asa subsequently became a great reformer, seeking to return the Hebrew people to their previous religions zeal. I see this particular verse as a simple statement of universal spiritual Law that teaches us that we create our own human experiences according to choices we make. If we sit around wishing God would do something for us, we'll experience a life of frustration and lack. If we commit ourselves to the work uniquely ours to do—as it was uniquely King Asa's job to lead the people—the infinite Good of Spirit will support and reward our efforts.
