Acts 10:34-35

"Then Peter began to speak to them: ‘I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him" (Acts 10:34-35).

 

Comment:

At this point Peter is in the home of Cornelius, a Roman centurion and a gentile, who has been spiritually guided to send for Peter and hear what he says. Peter accepts the invitation and has a realization that will have a huge impact on the growth of the new faith: The message of Jesus Christ is not for Jews alone, but for "every nation." What's important is not what religion you were born to or believe in. What matters is "doing what is right"—allowing divine love and guidance to be your Source as you move through the experiences of life.  

There are, and have always been, Christians who do not accept Peter's revelation; they believe that what matters is, indeed, which church one belongs to. But it is precisely at this moment that the universal Truth found in the message of Jesus Christ is recognized. Cornelius becomes the first gentile to accept and embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ.
