Acts 3:19-22
"Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah appointed for you, that is, Jesus, who must remain in heaven until the time of universal restoration that God announced long ago through his holy prophets. Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you from your own people a prophet like me. You must listen to whatever he tells you’" (Acts 3:19-22).
Comment:
This is part of a talk Peter delivers in the portico of the Temple in Jerusalem, to crowds who had come running because Peter and John (metaphysically, faith and love) had empowered a cripple to stand and walk. He is clear that it is not mortal gifts that have accomplished this healing, but a complete faith in the Christ, the spiritual Presence within that Jesus had taught and demonstrated to him and the other disciples. These 'times of refreshing,' he assures them, are equally available to them if they 'repent’—that is, if they allow themselves to understand the Truth. It is that repentance that allows the Christ to come to them through the teachings of Jesus.
Blessings!
