Ephesians 4:29
"Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear" (Ephesians 4:29 RSV).
Comment:
What an appropriate passage as we move through this election year! It really couldn't be simpler: if we affirm evil, or darkness, or lack, we are expressing a faith in the reality of those elements that will increase their presence in our consciousness and in our lives as expressions of that consciousness. If, instead, we choose to speak of good, to appreciate the great gifts we already experience, then our faith is centered in Spirit and we are contributing to the new consciousness that Jesus describes as 'the kingdom of heaven.' And, as Jesus makes clear in the Sermon on the Mount, it is not only the words we speak that have creative power, but the thoughts behind the words.
Blessings!
