"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25 RSV).

Comment:

I love this passage. In fact, I used it as a part of my Thanksgiving Eve service this week. It's such an important and reassuring promise for those of us who have—shall we say—wandered afar in our journey through this human experience. One of the most insidious ways in which negative energies may continue to express in our lives is through a sense of regret that we wasted so much time—that we didn't “get it” at an earlier age. This promise clearly tells us that no time is every wasted; once we arrive at a point of remembering and understanding our true spiritual identity, we will regain in love and positive energy the time we spent lost in negativity. We will understand that it was—and is—all Good. The journey is an essential part of the destination. The inevitable result is the even greater promise at Joel 2:28: "I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and our young men shall see visions."   Blessings!
