Mark 5:41-43 "He took her by the hand and said to her, 'Talitha cum'..."

“He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha cum,’ which means “Little girl, get up!” And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat” (Mark 5:41-43).

Question:

I’m curious what interpretation, if any, is given to the phrase uttered by Jesus to the little girl. Is her awakening symbolic of something deeper, for example?

Comment:

Metaphysically there is always a deeper meaning to the words, actions and demonstrations of Jesus as he seeks to demonstrate the priority of spiritual truth over mortal appearances. The words in Aramaic call the child to recognize and express her eternal spirit, setting aside the mortal illusion of death. And yet it is not a question of being spiritual instead of physical; both are important if we are to fulfill our purpose here in human form. So Jesus knows that the child’s body needs nourishment, and he quietly suggests that they give her something to eat.
