Matthew 11:24
"But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you" (Matthew 11:24 RSV).
Comment:
Chapter 11 of Matthew is centered in the relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist. He speaks passionately about the power and importance of John's teachings, and warns cities that have rejected John's work that there will be consequences for those negative choices. The "sins" of Sodom were sins born out of ignorance of spiritual Truth. Their choices do, indeed, create consequences. But the consequences are far more severe if, once introduced to Truth, we choose to reject it. The same is true for us today. Consequences are less severe for choices made out of spiritual ignorance than for choices made after we have been shown the spiritual Power that is our true identity.
Blessings!
