Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there..."
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them" (Matthew 18:20).
Question:
Spirit lives within us. What is the significance of "where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them"? He is always with us.
Comment:
The Christ is always with us, of course. The Christ is our true spiritual identity. I’m not sure I would say that Jesus Christ "is always with us." I would say that Jesus Christ is always available to us. As we struggle to express our own Christ nature, Jesus Christ stands ready to support and assist us. But he needs to be invited—he won’t force himself upon us. He never presumes to know what we need, any more than he would presume to know if a blind man needed a healing. The blind man had to ask, and so do we. The point here is that it is easier when we don’t try to do it alone. This is why we in Unity gather in spiritual community—not just for the ways in which we can support each other, but because in coming together in the name of the Christ, the added energy of Jesus Christ is also present. Blessings!
