Psalm 83:18 "Let them know that you alone..." and Revelation 21:3-4 "And I heard a loud voice..."

"Let them know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth" (NRSV).

Question:

Thank you for this opportunity to ask. I understand Psalms spoke about Jehovah being the most High over all the earth. Is His name just my interpretation?
Revelation 21 has been a favorite all my life and at this moment I know I have always wished and hoped that somehow it could be true. This scripture has always been my joy and from all my study from The Secret to now. I appreciate your input.

Comment:

The 83rd Psalm is essentially a prayer for the Hebrews to be delivered from their enemies, who are challenging not just their lands and goods, but also challenging their monotheistic belief in one God—one Presence, one Power. The enemies worshipped many gods and scoffed at the God of the Israelites. So, according to the psalmist, the request is for a military victory that will prove the might of the Hebrew God and His dominance over all things. We are often challenged today, I think, by people who worship many gods— money, power, fame, lust. We struggle, as the psalmist did, to stay focused on the One Presence and One Power we recognize in ourselves and in all of life.

  REVELATION 21:3-4—"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying 'See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away" (NRSV).   COMMENT: So many people think of the Revelation to John as a description of terrible judgments and cataclysmic battles—which it is. But it's as if they stop reading at the end of Chapter 20 and don't stick around for the glorious outcome that is promised. The terrible conflicts between forces of good and evil will, indeed, be a part of this human experience so long as we continue to believe in duality and continue to see ourselves as victims rather than creators. Ultimately, however, we will remember our spiritual truth, and our spiritual identity. When we do, the illusions of conflict will cease. “Death” and “Hades”—expressions of our old beliefs in negativity and suffering—will be "thrown into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:14) to be purified into an energy that affirms the truth of our Oneness. And then come the great promises of Revelation 21: the divine will become a part of this human experience, creating through us a new dimension of spiritual expression—what Jesus describes as “the kingdom of heaven.” It's an absolute and unconditional promise that, no matter how much pain and chaos we may experience through our own spiritual ignorance, the outcome will be well worth the battle.
