Taste and Touch
Question:
What are taste and touch called in the realm of Spirit?
Comment:
It's an interesting question. We know our five senses are a source of the illusive nature of this human experience; they frequently provide misleading information about the 'reality' of the world around us—information we then use as the basis for our beliefs and choices. So are there still senses in the "kingdom of heaven" consciousness Jesus calls us to create?
I think the answer can be found in the great promise of Chapter 21 of the Revelation to John, in which God states, "Behold, I make all things new" (RSV). I take this to mean that the dramatic and positive shift from this human experience to the kingdom of heaven will be a shift in consciousness. The outward elements of our lives may remain the same, but we will understand everything differently. There will still be choices to be made, but we will understand the Oneness behind the choices. There will still be input from our senses, but we will no longer be confused about what is real and what is an illusion. After all, our senses serve us in wonderful ways, so long as we don't make them our primary authority in determining what we believe and what we choose.
Blessings!
