To celebrate Black History Month, we focus on the many Black leaders who are and have been part of the New Thought movement, the spiritual path that includes Unity.

We continue to honor Black leaders of New Thought, focusing on Rev. Dr. JoAnn Watson of Detroit, who was a powerhouse civic leader as well as minister at the venerable West Side Unity Church.

In the booklet From Black Church to New Thought, ministers who grew up in traditional Black churches tell how they incorporate their background into their churches today. We’ve even included a playlist of their favorite gospel music.

Then read more history in the Black Communities section of this website and peruse the many articles by Black writers.
