Adam and Eve
Question:
Does God favor males? Is Eve merely an afterthought, put into existence for Adam?
Comment:
Let's look at the first of the two creation stories that begin the Book of Genesis. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." I understand this to be telling us that the Christ—the divine idea of man that is the image and likeness of God -- contains all the qualities that later express as male and female. It is in the second stage of creation—bringing the Christ into expression in this dualistic world—that the Allness of the Christ expresses separately as male and female. So no, God does not 'favor' males, and the feminine represented by Eve is not an afterthought. They are intrinsically One as the Christ; at the level of spirit, there is no sexual distinction, just the unity of the divine. Blessings!
