For dreams come with many cares, and a fool’s voice with many words.

Comment:

This stand-alone comment comes in the midst of a passage about how best to approach God. Metaphysically it’s about approaching the Lord of our being, the Christ Presence of God within us that makes us the temple of God that Jesus assures us we are.  We are told to “let your words be few” (5:2) because we are approaching the Allness of the divine from a limited mortal consciousness. We should simply be listening for the guidance of God. If we go to God with our dreams, we may achieve those dreams. But if they are not expressive of our spiritual purpose, those dreams may bring “many cares”—they may be more trouble than they’re worth. And if we allow others to tell us what God would have us do, instead of trusting our own innate Oneness with God, we are allowing ourselves to be distracted by “fools.” When we sit in the Silence, open and accepting of the divine guidance we find there, our approach to God is effective and powerful.

Blessings!
