Ephesians 3:20 and Philippians 4:19-20
EPHESIANS 3:20: "Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations."
Question:
I am asking, seeking and knocking for an answer to my prayers seeking a financial windfall blessing which would bring my family and me stability.
Comment:
I don't think you can fully embrace this particular sentence without appreciating the powerful words that immediately precede it. "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (verses 14-19). In other words, we access the Power of God in our lives, not by prayerful pleas directed to a distant force, but by finding the divine Spirit of God "in the inner man"—in our own being, so that we realize the Christ—the full, creative Presence of God—that dwells in our hearts and expresses through us when we have the faith to claim its power. The Christ is "the power at work within us" that can accomplish through us much more than we can ever imagine—more than we could hope to accomplish through our limited human abilities. PHILIPPIANS 4:19-20: "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen." God does indeed supply our every need—not by delivering Good to us, but by expressing Good through us. Just as Jesus perfectly expressed his Christ nature, his innate Oneness with the Light and Love of God, so we are called to do the same by following his example, surrendering to the power of God within us and allowing it to flow through our every choice and action. Blessings!
