Galatians 1:10
"Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ" (Galatians 1:10).
Comment:
The underlying point here, I think, is that what choices we make cannot be our only focus. Why we make choices is equally as important. If, for example, we are generous tithers, but only for the purpose of impressing other people, that intention will become our achievement. We may well impress other people, but there will be no spiritual benefit because that was not our intention. If we give the identical tithe quietly, even secretly, for the sole purpose of expressing our Oneness with Spirit, our blessings will be profound.
Jesus makes the same point in Matthew 6: 1: "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."
Blessings!
