Galatians 4; Ephesians 1:10
Question:
I’d like an expansion of the concept of “in the fullness of time, it came to pass …”
Comment:
“The fullness of time” always refers to divine order, I think. In Galatians (4:3-4, 5 RSV), for example, Paul writes that “when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law … so that we might receive adoption as sons.” The Christ Presence of God that Jesus taught and demonstrated in his life and ministry is as eternal as the Allness of God, of which it is an integral part. It was always our true identity, but at early stages of our spiritual unfoldment, we were not able to receive it. When we were ready—when the time had fully come—the teacher appeared. And in Ephesians, Paul tells us that our spiritual progress continues until another fullness of time is achieved: “For he has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth” (Eph. 1:9-10 RSV). This unity of heaven and earth is the ‘kingdom of heaven’ that Jesus describes so often in his ministry. That fullness will be achieved when we are making all choices from our Christ Consciousness.
Blessings!
