Isaiah 42:2-3
"He will not cry or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice" (Isaiah 42:2-3).
Comment:
This is known as one of the Servant Songs in Isaiah. The prophet sees the people of Israel as the collective servant of a loving God. Early Christian tradition applied the passages to Jesus Christ (see Matthew 12:18-21).
