"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is in the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of the drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit" (Jeremiah 17:7-8 RSV).

Question:

This and a Psalm 62:2, 5-8 was handwritten and handed to me at work. I felt a deep connection to it and it moved me deeply.

Comment:

This is a very beautiful, very clear description of how best to live a life. We "trust in the Lord" when we live in constant awareness of our true spiritual identity, the Christ Presence of God within. That identity, and our awareness of it, are constantly nourished by the waters—the Light and Love of the divine energy that moves in and through us. If we move too far from that spiritual Source, we will find ourselves at the mercy of mortal challenges and conditions—drought, heat and other human challenges. If we make sure that our roots are always anchored in the flow of the Divine, so that the water is a constant Presence in our lives, we will be able to enjoy, and function in, this human experience more joyfully and effectively.   Blessings!
