John 12:32
"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself" (John 12:32).
Comment:
You asked specifically about the use of the pronoun 'men.' It's a translator's choice, and it's surely not meant to exclude women in this great description of spiritual process. After all, women were an important part of the ministry of Jesus, and were surely present at the Last Supper, where this passage takes place. What's really significant, I think, is that this elevation of spiritual consciousness will happen to 'all,' without qualification. He doesn't say, 'I will draw all men who believe in me.' He recognizes that we are all One in spiritual consciousness. It's true for us as well: our personal spiritual process affects our collective consciousness in ways we may never realize.
Blessings!
