"Very truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father" (John 14:12).

Question:

I do not understand this verse and I feel very confused with the words in this verse.

Comment:

As with so much of the Gospel of John, the full meaning of this powerful statement can only be realized when we know that Jesus is speaking, not as the human Jesus of Nazareth, but as Jesus Christ, the embodiment and expression of the Christ energy that is his true spiritual identity—and ours as well. (The key to recognizing this lies in the words “I am” which represent a direct link to the Presence of God within.) The Christ of Jesus is calling forth the Christ in each of us. If we believe his teaching and demonstration, and affirm the Christ as our own true identity, then we will be able to accomplish what he accomplished. Indeed, we will do more, because he has opened the door, shown the way, and gone forward himself on the path to full Christ expression.   Blessings!
