"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me'" (John 6:35-38).

Comment:

Jesus Christ is speaking to the same crowd of followers who had participated in his feeding of the 5,000. He is speaking as the full expression of the Christ. Anytime Jesus speaks as the 'I am,' he is describing the Christ Presence that is the true identity of each of us—an identity he was able to fully express, and that he calls us to find and express in ourselves by following his teachings and examples.

Jesus Christ is attempting to shift the crowd's focus from the earthly demonstration they had witnessed to the spiritual Truth that made this demonstration possible. The Christ—the ‘I am’ of our spiritual existence—is the only Source we need to recognize and call upon. It is by 'coming to' Christ awareness that we are abundantly supplied with all we need or want to receive. This is because, by turning to the Christ, we are recognizing and embracing our spiritual purpose: to do the will of our divine Source as we make the choices that will bring the kingdom of heaven into expression.

Blessings!
