John 8:57-59 "Then the Jews said to him, 'You are not yet fifty years old,..."
"Then the Jews said to him, 'You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?' Jesus said to them, 'Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.' So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple" (John 8:57-59).
Question:
In meditation this scripture entered my consciousness, and I don't believe I had ever read the scripture before. That was many years ago ...
Comment:
This is clearly one of the many times when communication between Jesus and his challengers became difficult, because Jesus was speaking from a totally different consciousness, in a way that made no sense to their limited ability to understand.
Jesus has linked himself to Abraham, and the indignant Jews challenging him want to know how he could possibly know Abraham, who had lived many hundreds of years earlier. From their limited human view it made no sense. But Jesus is speaking as the Christ—the creative energy of God. That energy is eternal; there is no possible 'time line' in Christ consciousness, because there is no time. There is only the eternal Now moment. The Christ—the “I am" energy within each of us—lives in that eternal moment. It is through the eternal energy of the Christ that Jesus is connected to Abraham, as we are connected to Jesus—all One in the infinite Allness of God. Blessings!
