Leviticus 18 and 20
I cannot understand why or when Unity (a mission) that brought me to JESUS would condone this abomination.
Comment:
Leviticus 18 and 20 are long chapters, filled with dozens of details; so I'm not entirely sure to what “abomination” you are referring. In general, however, Unity recognizes—as Jesus did—that the Hebrew scriptures (as well as the later New Testament) describe an unfolding process by which we evolve into greater and greater awareness of our innate divinity. That's why Jesus so often used a teaching method of contrast: "You have heard it said ... but I say to you ..." The overall spiritual Truth in which we live and move and have our being is constant and unchanging. The ways in which we understand (or misunderstand) that Truth will change, however, as we grow in spiritual maturity. Man-made rules and regulations that seemed appropriate at one time may be less appropriate as we learn to express the Love that is the whole basis of our Oneness with the Divine. Centered in that Love, the rigidity of the rules becomes unnecessary because we will intuitively always seek to express that Love.
Blessings!
