"In those days when there was again a great crowd without anything to eat, he called his disciples and said to them, ‘I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way—and some of them have come from a great distance’" (Mark 8:1-3).

Comment:

I must say I don't see any interpretive challenge to this passage. Jesus is about to demonstrate how the Christ can effectively express to dissolve any human limitations. The first step is to clearly see and define the problem. The people have presumably already eaten what nourishment they brought with them; since they still believe in lack, this becomes a challenge. I think it's important to note that Jesus, as the Christ, does not ignore the apparent challenge and focus only on spiritual Truth. He shows us that we are to use our spiritual Truth, not to deny our human challenges, but to use each and every one as an opportunity to bring Truth into expression.

Blessings!
