Matthew 16:24
"Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me’" (Matthew 16:24).
Comment:
We metaphysically understand the cross to represent the challenge of maintaining our spiritual consciousness in the midst of human distractions. It might be tempting to think that in 'denying ourselves,' we free ourselves from the human, but that would be to deny our spiritual purpose in being here at all. Knowing our spiritual Truth does not release us from human challenges; it empowers us to face those challenges without fear, making the choices that will transform them into expressions of the new consciousness that is the kingdom of heaven.
