Question:

I am an IMP student. I read a newspaper article on The New Cold War: Is it a Western conspiracy? The article was about five developing countries known as "BRICS"—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The first thought I had after reading the article was Nebuchadnezzar's Dream and Daniel's interpretation. I am very interested in a metaphysical interpretation, and thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Comment:

Without seeing the article, I can't comment on the relevance of Daniel 2 to those particular issues. Certainly Daniel—like the Revelation to John—has been used for hundreds of years to explain or justify historic events and troubled times. Daniel's interpretation of the king's dream is pretty clear-cut: The kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar will be as bright and rich as gold, but through ensuing rulers it will be gradually debased, from gold to silver to bronze to iron to clay. Meanwhile—completely separate from these declining powers—the kingdom of heaven will come into expression as we discover and express the spiritual power within us ("no human hand" can accomplish it). Without going into all the details, it seems clear metaphysically that the message is that the kingdom of heaven will not be realized as a culmination of earthly power, but as a completely different consciousness. The world may shift from gold to silver to bronze and so on, but nothing happening in this human realm can delay the coming of the new consciousness that is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessings!
