Numbers 23:23
"For there is no enchantment against Jacob, no divination against Israel; now it shall be said of Jacob and Israel, 'What has God wrought!'" (Numbers 23:23 RSV)
Question:
The first telegraph message sent was from Numbers 23:23: "What hath God wrought." I would like to do what I call "Unitize" this for my congregation. This week, I would like to have it come from an outside source; if possible, from unity.org so the members can see our connection with our worldwide organization. Thank you in advance for your time.
Comment:
This passage is from the second of four divinations of Balaam, a Mesopotamian diviner who is summoned by the Moabite king Balak to put a curse on the Israelites who have appeared in his kingdom en route from Egypt to Israel. No matter how hard he tries, however, Balaam is unable to deny or counteract the power of the Lord that is clearly guiding them forward. In this passage, he tells the king they cannot be affected by interference from 'lesser gods' of Mesopotamia or Moab. Their strength and guidance come from the Lord; they are directly connected to Source, and their inevitable triumphs will be seen as divine manifestation: not 'what the people have wrought,’ but 'What has God wrought.' It is so for us, as well, when we are connected to our Christ Source. Lesser dimensions of power—political, economic, and so on—cannot get in the way of our creative purpose when we know ourselves to be One with the Christ.
Blessings!
