Galatians 6:6-8 "Those who are taught the word must share all good things with their teacher."
"Those who are taught the word must share in all good things with their teacher. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit" (Galatians 6:6-8).
Question:
There's this e-mail that has circulated more than once that because certain people have voiced their opinions "against God," that that is why they were met with an "untimely death." I sure would love to see Unity's take on this interpretation. Thank you.
Comment:
It's amazing how many people are absolutely sure they know how God sees and interprets just about everything. But they get things backward. Instead of allowing the infinite Love that is God to flow into their minds and hearts so that everything is seen from a perspective of love, they expand their human fears and judgments to as mammoth a size as they can manage, and call it God. Our human minds cannot conceive of the infinite and unconditional Love that is God; only the Christ, the Presence of God within us, can fully embrace that spiritual reality. In this passage Paul defines the essence of spiritual law: "God is not mocked; for you reap whatever you sow." If we judge others, then negative judgment is what we sow, and negative judgment against ourselves is what we reap. We may try to cloak our fearful and angry judgments as the Will of God, but God will not be mocked. The judgments are coming from our human anger and human fears, and we will reap the consequences. So this passage is not about passing judgment on other people, but rather becoming conscious of the seeds we are sowing ourselves. There is always a choice, and it is always the same choice, no matter what situation or challenge we may face. Do we "sow to the flesh" by accepting as true the fear-based input of our mortal brains, or do we "sow to the Spirit" by choosing to embrace our Oneness with God and the divine guidance that provides? We will have all the Power we need to live our own lives as expressions of divine Love. And none of us is given the perspective of God to pass judgment on what is happening in others' lives. Blessings!
