Luke 17:20-21 "Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered..."
"Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, 'The kingdom of god is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say 'Lo, here it is!' or 'There!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you" (Luke 17:20-21 RSV).
Question:
Does this cancel the existence of the kingdom of God after life on earth..? If it is within our own selves and we apparently just need to open up to it?
Comment:
Although you did not cite a specific Bible verse for your question, I believe this is the passage you have in mind. The kingdom of God is descriptive of the state of consciousness we will achieve when we are fully expressing our innate Oneness with God through the Christ of our being. It is an eternal, spiritual consciousness—as we are eternal, spiritual beings. Some believe it will only be achieved after we die to our mortal bodies. But it is eternal—you can't limit the eternal, and you can't define when the eternal begins or ends. So the kingdom of heaven is an immediate possibility—it lives within us as spiritual potential, and it will express according to the beliefs we hold and the choices we make. Your question suggests that the fact that it can be present here on earth means that it will cease to be when we move beyond our mortal limits. But the kingdom of God is a part of our eternal spiritual Self. We don't cease to be at death—we continue our spiritual journey into other dimensions. The kingdom of God won't cease either—it will continue to be our state of spiritual consciousness. Blessings!
