For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat. When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm, the noise of aliens like heat in a dry place, you subdued the heat with the shade of clouds, the song of the ruthless was stilled. (Isaiah 25:4-5)

Comment:

Isaiah 25 is a song of praise beginning “O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things.” It apparently refers to a military victory over an “alien” city. But its energy is important to us as well. It is easy to keep our focus on the challenges of life—the ways in which things do not seem to be going our way. That’s understandable; it’s a part of our human experience. But it is essential that we also acknowledge and appreciate the many ways in which the Power of the divine is, indeed, working in our lives. A sense of gratitude for the wonderful ways in which divine order, love, beauty and joy express (even on our darkest days) is the energy that dissolves the shadows of fear and lets the Light of spiritual truth shine ever brighter.

Blessings!
