Our Father Who Art in Heaven ...
Question:
"In heaven" appears to give the impression of a father who is far away in the heavens. How do you marry this with a father who is within us?
Comment:
Heaven is not a place, but a state of perfect spiritual consciousness. As Jesus is careful to explain to his followers (Luke 17:21) “the kingdom of heaven is within you.” So "Our Father who art in heaven" is the infinite Presence and Power of God within us. And "thy kingdom come" represents our prayerful choice to allow that Presence and Power to move through us into expression in the world around us. Blessings!
