Proverbs 12:27
"A slothful man will not catch his prey, but the diligent man will get precious wealth" (Proverbs 12:27 RSV).
Comment:
This is the RSV translation, which is slightly different from the one you quoted. My Oxford Study Bible notes that this passage in its original Hebrew is 'very unclear.' But I think the message is clear: it takes work to achieve material wealth. It also takes work—even more work—to achieve spiritual wealth. God is all Good and all Love, but we can't sit around expecting God to provide for us. We must first find the Divine within ourselves, so that we can express it into the world and enjoy its blessings. That process is not for the lazy; it's hard work. And the rewards are great.
Blessings!
