Proverbs 4:23

"Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life" (Proverbs 4:23 RSV).

Comment:

This brief passage expresses a profound and practical spiritual truth. Our brains, while essential, are often distracted with fears and negative judgments we accumulate in the course of this human experience. It is in the heart—what Jesus describes as 'the upper room'—that we can most clearly and purely link ourselves to the Presence and Power of the divine. All love, all life, all possibilities for joy and abundance, are sourced in that heart energy. By trusting in our hearts for every choice with which we are presented, we ensure that we are creating from spiritual Truth rather than trusting in limited human fears.
