Psalm 20:4
"May he grant you your heart's desire, and fulfill all your plans!" (Psalm 20:4 RSV)
Comment:
This entire psalm, attributed to David, is a prayer for victory in battle. Of course, we don't want to affirm that your son will be facing battles (although they occur to each of us from time to time). I think its greatest meaning to us today is in its progression from hope to certainty. In a sense, it describes the creative process by which we bring the infinite substance of the Divine into tangible expression as our life experience. "May he grant ..." is not a beseeching prayer. It is rather a loving, centered, creative choice. In a sense, he will be affirming that positive energy for not only himself, but for everyone he meets.
Blessings!
