John 12:23-24 "Jesus answered the, 'The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified...'"
Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” (John 12:23-24)
Comment:
As with all of Jesus’ teachings, this strong statement seems on the surface to refer to his own imminent process, but in fact it has an important metaphysical depth for all of us on our own spiritual paths. “The Son of Man” is “glorified” when we choose to release an old belief or habit (or addiction) and move forward into a new dimension of spiritual expression. It usually involves releasing something that was once positive and helpful, but which has become a “false idol” because we believe it to be a source of some aspect of our personal good. In truth, God is our Source for all good, and stepping into the spiritual unknown is always to step into a greater expression of that good. But the letting go is not easy; it often feels like a death. We look for an easier, softer way of moving forward without surrendering our fear-based attachments. There is no easier, softer way. A grain of wheat is a final expression of last year’s creative process. To experience this year’s harvest, to claim the next dimension of our good we must release last year’s grain and surrender to the greater power that is Divine Love.
Blessings!
