Matthew 5:48
“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).
Question:
What is Jesus really asking of us? I don’t think it’s perfection, since that’s not possible for us.
Comment:
Oh, but it is! Jesus isn’t saying we must behave perfectly. He’s saying we must have full faith in our innate Oneness with our spiritual Source, which means we are inherently as perfect in nature as is God. Believing that is the essential first step in the process of fully expressing that innate perfection by sourcing every choice in our Christ Consciousness. To do that is to achieve and experience the new dimension of life that Jesus calls "the kingdom of heaven." Once we fully embrace our potential for perfection, then even the mistaken choices we may make as we grow and learn become part of the spiritual process that brings us into this human experience.
Blessings!
