Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1).
 

Question:

Does this mean that you should not desire or want for yourself or that the Lord will provide for your wants?

Comment:

This is not a warning that it is wrong to want. It is a very positive affirmation that when I am fully committed to expressing the Lord of my being—the Christ Light within me—I am completely protected and supplied. Wanting—or desiring—is how we move forward in our spiritual purpose of creating a new consciousness—the kingdom of heaven that Jesus calls us to express. Emilie Cady, in her book Lessons in Truth, tells us that a heart's desire is the first sign of a divine intention to fulfill that desire. In other words, we are never given a true desire for something that is later denied us.   Of course, we must realize that we are talking about spiritual truth, not mortal realities. Our mortal minds may think we need things—or people—that are not in fact compatible with our spiritual purpose. Those things or people may be denied us out of a loving awareness that they would not truly serve us. We must always let the Christ be the source of the desire—and also the source of the supply that fulfills that desire and allows us to take another step toward the kingdom.   Blessings! Rev. Ed
