One World, One Heart: Finding Solace in Senseless Loss
In moments of senseless tragedy—whether from acts of violence, accidents, or the unpredictable forces of nature—our hearts ache for those affected. At Unity, we believe that while pain is real, so is our innate divinity, our capacity for love and connection.
Tragedy Through a Unity Lens
When we are faced with senseless loss, we may feel isolated and overwhelmed—in a different way, perhaps, than the grief we feel for those whose long lives ended peacefully. Tragic deaths, however, can be more than random, unpredictable chaos; it can actually be a profound spiritual teacher, awakening compassion and reminding us of our interconnectedness. Unity cofounder Charles Fillmore taught that all life flows from one divine source, and we are expressions of the one Mind, linked beyond the physical world. By shifting our thoughts from fear to oneness, we align with the truth that God is love. This is how we can heal the world, one heart at a time.
Honoring Your Feelings
The sadness and/or anger that comes with an unthinkable tragedy can feel overwhelming. Suppressing these emotions may seem easier but honoring them is essential for spiritual growth. Try journaling your feelings with an affirmation, such as I release my pain to divine love to process your grief and uncover its lessons without dwelling in it. As you honor your emotions, the resources below can guide your healing journey.
