Luke 12:48 "From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required..."

"From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded" (Luke 12:48).

Question:

I use it at work every day; I wonder if I am using it correctly.

Comment:

Jesus' message about our innate Oneness with God, and the creative power of our faith and belief, is very good news indeed. But he was aware that some of his followers were seeing it as a kind of cosmic cop-out—as if, having chosen to believe in Jesus' message, everything would be perfect from that point on. He teaches again and again that he is not doing the work for us. He is demonstrating the work of bringing the kingdom of heaven into expression through every choice we make so that we can do it ourselves—and it won't be easy. He emphasizes that his is not an easy path, but a challenging one. It's not for the multitudes stuck in victim consciousness, but for those who have broken free, and are willing to own their personal responsibility for the coming of the kingdom. This statement from Luke is related to that cautionary note. Those who have been given the spiritual gift of awareness will not thereby have an easier life. Rather, they will carry a greater load, and have a greater responsibility for the awakening of our collective consciousness. Being spiritually awake and alert is a great joy, and it is also a great challenge. We are still a part of collective consciousness, and healing/changing/transforming that consciousness is our work to do.   Blessings!
