Psalm 115:14-15 "May the Lord give you increase, both you and your children..."

“May the Lord give you increase, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 115:14-15).

Question:

I read an interpretation from a daily devotion this morning and then I read the Scripture in The Daily Walk Bible. The daily devotion commented on increase and how prayers would go forth forever, whereas the Bible’s statement is “May the Lord richly Bless you and your children.” 

Comment:

Psalm 115 was intended to be sung antiphonally—with the congregation or choir singing parts and the priest or celebrant singing other verses in response. Verses 14 and 15 represent the priestly voice, invoking a blessing on the people for the faithfulness to God they are affirming. We metaphysically understand that the Lord is equivalent to the personal Presence of God in each of us that is named “the Christ” in the New Testament. When we recognize and embrace that Christ Presence, making it the source for all our beliefs and all our choices, then blessings will not only flow through our own lives, but through our children as well.
