Luke 18:18-19 "A certain ruler asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
A certain ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.” (Luke 18:18-19)
Comment:
Perhaps what Jesus intends in this exchange is a warning against allowing anybody else to become an intermediary between you and the Power of God. As he says elsewhere, “It is not I but the Father within that does the work.” “The Father” is the Christ Presence of God that is the true identity of every person. “Eternal life” is the full realization and expression of that Christ Presence. We don’t need another authority—not even Jesus in his own full Christ expression—to tell us what God would have us do. We have our own connection.
Blessings!
